SMOOTH Moves™ is…
Process-oriented workshops that provide proactive and effective cross-cultural and interpersonal interaction strategies for families about to start life in a new location due to ex-, trans- and repatriation.
Self-confidence: to continue functioning in a healthy manner, based on realistic expectations
Motivation: to go and to start from scratch
Orientation: in new surroundings, to new ideas and experiences
Organization: planning and optimal use of resources
Tolerance: in the face of ambiguity and change
Home: a personal definition
The programs are designed to help participants, with the support of other participants and family members, make use of their own skills to enhance their experiences in a new environment. Rather than prescribing do's and dont's, the workshops provoke introspection, re-examination of accepted ideas and offer problem-solving tools to promote self-dependence.
